Early Morning Crash Shocks Bund Garden Area
PUNE: In a heartbreaking incident early Sunday morning, three cousins lost their lives after their car crashed into a metro station pillar near Bund Garden in Pune.
The victims — Hritik Bhandari, Yash Bhandari, and Kushwant Tekwani — were reportedly headed to a party when the tragedy struck around 4:49 a.m.
Car Moving at High Speed Before Crash
According to Koregaon Park Police, the speeding car hit a pillar of the Bund Garden Metro station with immense force.
CCTV footage from the area shows the vehicle moving at a very high speed just moments before the collision.
Locals rushed to help and took the victims to a nearby hospital, where Hritik and Yash were declared dead on arrival.
Kushwant, a student at a private college in Pune, later succumbed to his injuries during treatment, officials confirmed.
Police Probe: Was Alcohol Involved?
Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Milind Mohite said that blood samples have been sent for chemical analysis to check if the victims had consumed alcohol.
“Prima facie, it appears the driver lost control of the vehicle. We are verifying if they were under the influence of alcohol,”
said DCP Mohite.
He added that Hritik and Yash were working professionals from Pimpri, while Kushwant hailed from Beed district.
Cousins’ Celebration Ends in Heartbreak
Police sources revealed that one of the victims had told his mother they were going to a party before the fatal crash.
What began as a night of celebration turned into a morning of unimaginable loss for the families of the three young men.
