Telangana Tragedy: 24 Killed as Speeding Truck Rams Into RTC Bus in Ranga Reddy

Horrific Collision Turns Deadly in Early Morning Hours

HYDERABAD: In a devastating road accident early Monday morning, at least 24 people lost their lives and several others were injured when a speeding lorry carrying gravel collided head-on with a Telangana Road Transport Corporation (RTC) bus in Ranga Reddy district.

The impact of the crash was so severe that the front portion of the bus was completely mangled, and the gravel load from the truck spilled onto the vehicle, trapping passengers inside.


Drivers Among the Dead; Massive Rescue Operation Launched

Both the RTC bus driver and the tipper lorry driver died instantly along with multiple passengers.
Rescue teams and local police rushed to the spot, and earthmovers were deployed to remove the gravel and extricate trapped passengers.

The injured were rushed to Chevella Government Hospital, and those in critical condition were shifted to Gandhi and Osmania Hospitals in Hyderabad following the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.


Government Swings Into Action

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed deep shock and grief over the tragedy and ordered immediate relief measures.
He instructed officials to remain on-site and set up a control room at the Secretariat to monitor rescue efforts and provide updates.

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar also spoke to RTC Managing Director Nagi Reddy to investigate the cause of the crash and directed the Ranga Reddy District Collector to ensure proper medical care for the injured.


PM Modi Offers Condolences, Announces Ex-Gratia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his condolences via X, saying:

“My thoughts are with the affected people and their families during this difficult time. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

The Prime Minister also announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh for the families of each deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.
