Delhi BS6 Vehicles Rule: Only BS6 Commercial Vehicles Allowed from November 1, 2025
To curb rising air pollution, the Delhi government has announced a major decision — starting November 1, 2025, only BS6-compliant commercial vehicles will be allowed to enter Delhi. All other vehicles, including BS4 and BS5 diesel models, will face a complete ban at Delhi’s borders.
Strict Implementation from November 1
According to sources, the Delhi government has made it clear that the new rule will be implemented strictly and without exceptions from November 1.
Any violation of the BS6 entry rule will invite legal action and penalties.
Delhi CM Rekha Gupta’s Big Step for Clean Air
Under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s leadership, the Delhi government has moved to enforce the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) directive.
From November 1 onward, only BS6 emission standard commercial vehicles will be allowed inside the capital, while non-BS6 vehicles registered outside Delhi will not be granted entry.
What Is the New Rule?
The new rule mandates that only BS6-compliant commercial vehicles — those meeting the latest emission norms — can enter Delhi.
Older vehicles with BS4 and BS5 diesel engines will be completely restricted.
What Is BS6 Engine Technology?
BS6 (Bharat Stage VI) is India’s most advanced vehicle emission standard.
Compared to older engines, BS6 engines emit significantly less smoke and harmful gases, such as Particulate Matter (PM) and Nitrogen Oxides (NOx).
This technology makes engines cleaner, reducing their contribution to Delhi’s pollution.
Why Is the BS6 Rule Necessary?
Every year, Delhi’s air quality deteriorates sharply from October to February, due to stubble burning, vehicle emissions, and stagnant air.
Limiting entry to only BS6 and cleaner vehicles is a key step toward improving Delhi’s air during this critical period.
Vehicles Allowed to Enter Delhi
Under the new order, the following vehicles will be permitted to enter Delhi:
-
BS4 Diesel Vehicles (allowed till October 31, 2026)
-
BS6 Diesel Vehicles
-
CNG, LNG, and Electric Vehicles
-
Commercial goods vehicles registered in Delhi
A Step Toward a Cleaner Capital
The move marks a significant step in Delhi’s ongoing fight against air pollution.
By enforcing BS6-only entry, the government aims to make Delhi’s air cleaner and healthier for its citizens.
