Border on Fire: Taliban vs Pakistan

🔥 Border on Fire: Taliban, Pakistani Forces Exchange Heavy Fire

Tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have reached a boiling point after Taliban and Pakistani forces exchanged heavy gunfire along their shared border, following an air strike on Kabul that the Taliban blames on Islamabad.

The clashes, which lit up the night sky, prompted urgent calls for restraint from regional powers including Iran, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.

⚔️ Retaliation and Accusations

Enayatullah Khwarizmi, spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Defence Ministry, said Taliban fighters launched “successful retaliatory” attacks against Pakistani troops after what he called “repeated violations” and air strikes by Pakistan on Afghan soil.

Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, labelled the assaults “unprovoked”, declaring that Islamabad would respond “with a stone for every brick.”

💥 Six-Front Clash Along the Border

According to Radio Pakistan, Taliban attacks targeted six locations along the border, drawing a “strong, intense response” from the Pakistan Army. Video footage shared by local media showed artillery flashes lighting up the night sky, though it remains unclear if hostilities have ceased.

✈️ Kabul Air Strike Sparks Tensions

The fierce exchanges come just days after air strikes in Kabul that the Taliban blamed on Pakistan. While Islamabad denied responsibility, it accused the Taliban government of harbouring Pakistani Taliban militants—allegedly backed by India.

New Delhi has rejected these allegations, while the Taliban insists it does not allow its territory to be used against other nations.

🤝 Calls for Calm from Regional Powers

As border tensions escalate, neighbouring nations are urging both sides to step back.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi appealed for restraint, saying that stability between Afghanistan and Pakistan is “crucial for regional peace.”

Qatar expressed “deep concern” over the violence, urging both sides to prioritise diplomacy over confrontation.

Saudi Arabia echoed similar sentiments, calling for dialogue, wisdom, and calm, reaffirming its commitment to regional stability and prosperity for both Afghan and Pakistani peoples.

🕊️ Regional Stability at Stake

With heavy exchanges and rising rhetoric, the Afghanistan-Pakistan border has once again become a flashpoint in South Asia. Analysts warn that without immediate diplomatic engagement, a localized clash could spiral into a larger regional crisis.
