Varanasi, November 8, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday flagged off four new Vande Bharat Express trains from the Banaras railway station in his Lok Sabha constituency, marking another milestone in India’s infrastructure journey.

These semi-high-speed trains will reduce travel time, enhance regional mobility, and promote tourism and trade across India, according to an official statement.
๐ Infrastructure: The Foundation of Development
Highlighting the vital role of infrastructure in a nation’s progress, PM Modi said,
“In developed countries across the world, the biggest reason for economic growth has been their infrastructure. Whenever such systems are developed, it sparks overall development.”
He emphasized that India too is moving rapidly on the path of development, driven by modern trains like Vande Bharat, Namo Bharat, and Amrit Bharat, which are shaping the future of Indian Railways.
๐ Pilgrimage and Progress in Uttar Pradesh
PM Modi also noted that pilgrimage sites in Uttar Pradesh have become powerful drivers of the local economy, with devotees contributing thousands of crores annually. “Our endeavour is to make visiting and staying in Varanasi a truly special experience,” he said.

The ceremony was attended by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who hailed the initiative as a step towards a new era of fast, modern, and inclusive travel across India.
