Trump Sparks Buzz: Says He’d ‘Love’ a Third Presidential Run

Trump Keeps 2028 Option Open: “I Would Love to Do It”

During a media interaction aboard Air Force One, US President Donald Trump kept the door open for a third presidential run in 2028, sparking fresh speculation about his political future.

When asked about former White House strategist Steve Bannon’s suggestion that he seek an unconstitutional third term, Trump responded:

“I would love to do it. I have the best numbers ever.”

He later clarified that he “hasn’t really thought about it”, but the remark was enough to reignite discussions across political circles.

Trump Mentions Rubio and JD Vance as Republican Successors

Trump also dropped hints about who could carry forward his political legacy, naming Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance as top contenders for the 2028 Republican nomination.

“We have some really good people,” Trump said, pointing to Rubio. “We have great people — one of them is standing right here.”

The president went on to praise his vice president, adding:

“Obviously, JD is great. The vice president is great. I’m not sure anyone would run against those two.”

Bannon’s “Third Term Plan” Sparks Controversy

According to Politico, Trump’s close ally Steve Bannon has been pushing the idea of a third Trump campaign, claiming on his podcast that “there is a plan” for 2028.

However, the US Constitution restricts presidents to two elected terms, making any such attempt legally impossible unless the law is amended.

Trump in Asia: “No War! Millions of Lives Saved”

Meanwhile, President Trump has arrived in Tokyo for the second leg of his Asia tour, after wrapping up a successful visit to Malaysia, where he attended the ASEAN Summit.

Before departing Kuala Lumpur, Trump signed major trade and rare earth deals and claimed to have brokered a peace treaty between Thailand and Cambodia.

On Truth Social, he wrote:

“Just leaving Malaysia, a great and very vibrant Country. Signed major Trade and Rare Earth Deals, and yesterday, most importantly, signed the Peace Treaty between Thailand and Cambodia. NO WAR! Millions of lives saved. Such an honor to have gotten this done. Now, off to Japan!!!”

In Summary

While Trump’s remarks about a potential third term were likely offhand, they have reignited debates about his post-presidency ambitions and the future of the Republican Party. With Rubio and JD Vance emerging as key figures, the 2028 race may already be taking shape — even before 2025 ends.
