🌾 PM Modi Launches ₹35,440 Crore Schemes to Transform India’s Agriculture Sector
Diwali gift for farmers: Focus on pulses self-reliance, natural farming, and district-level revival
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (October 11, 2025) unveiled two major agricultural schemes worth ₹35,440 crore, aimed at boosting productivity, reducing import dependency, and modernizing rural farming infrastructure.
The launch coincided with the birth anniversary of socialist leader Jayaprakash Narayan.
🌱 Mission for Pulses Self-Reliance
Under the ‘Dalhan Aatmanirbharta Mission’, the government has earmarked ₹11,440 crore to increase India’s pulses production from 252.38 lakh tonnes to 350 lakh tonnes by 2030-31, reducing import reliance and enhancing farmer incomes.
🚜 ‘PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana’: Reviving 100 Underperforming Districts
The ₹24,000 crore ‘PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana’ aims to rejuvenate 100 low-performing agricultural districts.
The scheme focuses on:

Boosting productivity

Promoting crop diversification

Improving irrigation and storage facilities
-
Easing access to credit for farmers
Both schemes have received Cabinet approval and will run from the upcoming Rabi season through 2030-31.
🧬 Major Project Inaugurations Across India
PM Modi also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth over ₹6,200 crore across agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and food processing sectors.
These include:

Artificial insemination training centres in Bengaluru and Jammu & Kashmir

Centres of Excellence in Amreli and Banas

An IVF lab in Assam under the National Gokul Mission

Milk powder plants in Mehsana, Indore, and Bhilwara

A fish feed plant in Tezpur under the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana
📜 Recognizing Champions of Natural Farming
During the event, PM Modi presented certificates to certified farmers, Maitri Technicians, and PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendras (PMKSKs) under the National Mission on Natural Farming.
He also honored Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) that have been upgraded into Common Service Centres (CSCs).
🤝 Empowering Farmer Networks
The program celebrated major milestones achieved under government initiatives, including:

50 lakh farmers enrolled in 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)

Integration of multiple schemes supporting agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries value chains
PM Modi also interacted with pulse-growing farmers who have benefited from government support in building value chains and improving productivity.
The event was attended by Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairy Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, and Minister of State for Agriculture Bhagirath Choudhary.
