⚖️ Indian Nurse in Singapore Jailed for Molesting Hospital Visitor Under Pretext of “Disinfection”
A 34-year-old Indian nurse working at Singapore’s Raffles Hospital has been sentenced to one year and two months in jail, along with two strokes of the cane, after he pleaded guilty to molesting a male visitor at the hospital.
According to The Straits Times, the accused, Elipe Siva Nagu, committed the offence in June this year while on duty at the premium medical facility located on North Bridge Road.
🚨 The Incident
On June 18, the victim had visited the hospital to see his ailing grandfather. Around 7:30 p.m., as he entered a patient’s toilet, Elipe allegedly peeked inside and then approached the visitor under the false pretext of “disinfecting” him.
Prosecutor Eugene Phua told the court that Elipe applied soap on his hand and molested the victim, leaving him frozen in shock. The victim later returned to his grandfather’s bedside, deeply disturbed by the encounter.
The incident was reported to the authorities on June 21, and Elipe was arrested two days later.
⚖️ Court Verdict
During the hearing, the prosecution revealed that the incident had caused the victim to suffer flashbacks and emotional distress.
The court on Friday sentenced Elipe to one year and two months in prison and two strokes of the cane. He had been suspended from his nursing duties immediately after the offence came to light.
